Moved'

Dear Avid Reader(s),

I've moved my blog to my old address cos I realised I need to start afresh as I do not want any past to come catching up with me and when folks start to read bout what I've been typing here, i think my MSN list will shrink by half. Ha.

So here's the address that'll track my journeys and rants for my exchange trip.

all in a day's work

Sometimes, I wonder if there’s even anyone out there who read this blog other than Tina (who’s here to check if I bad mouth about her)

Anyway, went for a focus group today for French tourism office, and got paid 80 buckeroos for it. After that, drag Tina along to be my tai tai fren for moi’s haircut at heeren. But sadly, the place was so freaking crowded on a Saturday that the image conjured by my mind of Tina sitting in an empty chair next to mine and we two gossiping and bitching about our European trip did not get to be fulfilled. Instead, a weird auntie (yes, auntie, not tai tai!) was besides me having her hair highlighted, which after she took off those aluminum foils, I seriously do not see any major color on her crowning glory.

After my haircut and a short walk along Orchard to run some errands (like buying a top up card para mi madre), Tina decided to put her 80 bucks to good use by queuing up at least 30 min to get her bloody damn new Nokia cellular at the Starhub roadshow outside heeren (read: no aircon and no fluffy comfy chairs to sit on to wait!) Guessed Tina saw how pissed I was after that, anyway, like all my friends whom know me, all you need to get me to get over it is to get me eating…so onto Food Republic where I settled for fish soup and 4 plates of Dim Sum.

Realized tomorrow’s lunch at noon with Ed and Mel is cancelled cos Mel has to work (though I think it’s cos he went to, or rather, is at Zouk and is downing drinks as I am typing this so he cannot wake up tomorrow before 3)

Speaking of which, I think I should get Kenneth and Adelyn and some more folks for a clubbing session soon. Kenneth and I are thinking of heading down to Q Bar, but this notion has still not been realized.

Told Tina I'd put up a pic of Richard and gang from BDO at the D&D where he's Austin Poers and Sam's Austin's lady in tow...Absolutely wickedly hardcore! Totally rad, dude! (Sorry for the slangs, just that its summer and memories of Sloane is back, again for god-who-knows-how-many-times!)

tiles and book and food

this, i tink, will be a long long post, ok, maybe not that long afterall...

So here I am, the first post after I finished my internship. Yeah! Life's so bored, and term 3B will start next week. :(

Busy trying to secure hostel rooms and train tickets to Italy for the past few days. Oh, and I've gotten my Student Visa too, Gratis some more. Ha, which means I have 70+ Euros spare to spend in Europe!

Started reading Mary, Mary 3 days ago and it is a good read! James Patterson is indeed a matermind in writing suspense thriller. The book was written from a few different people's perspectives and it does get confusing when you start it, simply because you do not know which person's psych you're in. However, after all the blood and gore gets kicking, the story morphs into one that is highly engaging and through Jame's words, you will be lured into a tangled web of fake smiles and deceit and soon, you'll want to get into the mind of the killer (a.k.a. Mary Smith) and why 'The Storyteller' does all these. The emotional aspect by Agent Cross, the dectective, also provided another dimension in the hectic story to the reader.

And now, to the buffet at Melt, The Oriental. The guys over at the Oriental did an amazing job with all the retrofitting intheir lobby! Looks so posh and gorgeous now! Towering drapes, dimly lit lobbies gives the posh Designer Hotel look. However, I wonder, amongst all the dim, how do you differentiate your LVs and the Hermes, haha! Updated cheongsams on the staff also reaffirms the oriental touch to this luxurious Hong Kong hotel chain's elegence! I wonder if the grand dame in Hong Kong Oriental will be better than this after theor billion dollar renovation, but then again, it wll most likely, top the Singapore one, considering that is the flagship! Sadly, I doubt I'll ever be able to afford a night in the Hong Kong room in Queen's Road at Central (which happens to be my favourite spot in the city with its towering skyscrapers, fast paced urban life, and most importantly, all the designer stores!).

Back to the Melt. Had dinner with kiyo, stevie, jos and her bf with a total bill mounting to $304.00. Highly extravagent. Highly delicious food too.

Before I get to the food, lets talk about the restaurent, or rather, cafe. Very spacious with a slight Indo-Chine feel, except that it's much brighter. The food selection was display in few sections with the centerpiece being the Cold Selection of baby lobsters, mussels, oysters, prawns and various varieties of clams.

The buffet provides a great selection of various cuisines from that to indian to western to japanese (whoch kiyo loves). And they have a great selection of desserts too! But heard from Kiyo that The Line over at Shangri La is better in terms of variety, which I too think so. Too bad that I am too broke to afford the Line in the near future though. However, I still think that the High Tean over at Goodwood Park is much more me. More Tai Tai and posh, i feel.

So after all the food, retreated back to mi casa para un game of mahjong (!!) Realised that I am getting more and more Tai Tai...haha, high tea, buffets, then mahjong, if only this is my life and I have a doting wife to provide me with all the LVs and Hermes I want, then it'll be perfect! But life's never perfect right? Haiz.

So, anyway, we played only one round as most of us are so tirec and zonked out, plus the fact that Jos just came back from HK, and Steve from BKK. I realised all my friends are starting to so get use to their jet setting lives too, albeit its only to Asian countries. Ha. Kiyo mentioned that he'll be making his third trip to Tokyo this Nov, which by then, we are all rolling eyes. THIRD time you knoe, haoz, what's so great about Tokyo? Issit because his forst time was with me, and I wasn't a great companion bnack in 2003 Nov, or that his second trip there in 2005 was by himself and hence he realised I was indeed a great companion, so he's making a trip there for the 3rd time this Nov with his other friend to relive the 2003 experience? Haha, well, actually 3 times ain't that much right? I mean., Jos been to HK for min 6 times this yr (though it's cos of the trade shows) and I have been HK for more that 10 times, so 3 times ain't that many a times indeed! But then again, if you consider, 1 trip to Japan costs 3 trips to HK and 6 trips to BKK.

And the tiles did nothing much to help Kiyo either, Jos won 40+ bucks and me, haha, 1 buck! The game will be continued this Sunday...

Farewell, sort of...

Gosh, my eyes are shutting as I am typing this; had a great ‘Farewell’ Party for Sam before she leaves for Japan (Yokohama) next Tuesday, and the bunch of us did not leave till like after 2a.m. Yes, I know I still gotta work today. Whatever. Realised I’m typing slowly too, hmm…is it an after effect of alcohol over dosage? Ha.

Had a really great time, and I’ll so miss Sam after she’s gone! Hopefully, she’ll be able to live through and still be able to party yet e a role model to the kids with her S$3,500 per month pay. Yah, three thousand and five hundred dollars. One’ll not get this much in Singapore after 2 years of work u noe…not to mention that Sam’s just graduated. Roll eyes. Anyway, cannot wait for Monday where we'll be heading down to Q Bar...Cool!

Slurred reaction now, so I’ll just post the photos…ha!

Mis amigos...

Don't snoop, you papz (as in paparazzi, dah-lings...)!

Seeya in a year Samantha! Have heaps of fun in Japan!

what the hell?

my office blocked www.louisvuitton.com , yeah, i cannot understand why either. maybe they fail to comprehend the fact that looking at gorgeous LV bags will motivate one to work harder for the money to afford it. maybe they fail to understand that louis vuitton, like lace, is not porn, maybe they fail to understand that louis vuitton do not qualify as spam or junk but something healthy.

remember my previous post about knowing too many samantha in these 3 years of my life? well, another samantha pop up today. Called a company to get information and they directed me to samantha (as in the one in my office? i thought) but no! Rather, another gal by the name of samantha sam is their accountant. Ok, as ifsamantha, shortform to sam is not bad enough, she's called samantha sam...like i said earlier, and i'll say it now tambien , the world do not need another samantha for the time being!

interns all went for lunch, except me, and no! i am not packing Sandwich Shop again, rather, meeting ivy and fang to lunch together at amoy at 12.30. time's approaching, gotta go...hasta pronto todos!

home run

what a difference 9 weeks make. rewind to 7th may and you'll find an entry of me being so hyped up an overly enthusiatic about my then impending Internship; fast forward to now, with 2 paychecks issued, one newsletter published, 1 sponsorship letter to source from Fujitsu the $400 bucks Takashimaya vouchers for Family Day, hundreds of clients' list updating, interviewed 3 sports clubs within BDO, 1 china man whom recieved top score for his ACCA, heard countless china folks speaking in their tongue twisting accents, hpurs of bitching with fellow interns from NTU, poking fun at fat geraldine, getting to know miss j more in-depth and, lastly, with one more week to go, boy, i think i did accomplish something these 10 weeks. No?

Anyway, eugene who's from SMU, has finished his internship 1 week earlier on friday in Corporate Finance, and he'll be leaving on Mon for Shanghai to embark on a 5 week Internship in the Shanghai Ernst and Young office. so fun. He's one funny fellow though.

and to think that my last week will be boring, everything, and i mean everything has to happen this coming week! hello friends, i was pestering you all for the past 9 weeks and all you can think of is next week? ha!

Saw samantha (the one from my BSM trip to Latin America) in Marche on Thurs and I went ballistic! haha, have not seen her in ages since she graduated and she dropped the bombshell that she'll be leaving to japan for 1 year to teach English on 18 July, immediatly called JR, Ivy tp arrange for a nite out on Wed. So gotta go zouk with her b4 i see her next year! She's giving me the thought ot doing likewise in Japna after I graduate tambien! Googled it and realised that the pay per yr is 3.6 million yen, which accounts to more that 36,000 sing dollars! missed japan, had such a great time there with kiyo in 2003! still remember our 0-1-0-1 traumatising act to the receptionist at yokohama! haha...

thursday nite will be a gathering for all exchange students at OCS, and can't wait to see samantha(the bimbo) and jaslyn(the ugly one)...haha...

the world so do not need another samantha now...anyway, here's a photo i snapped with my mobile at Richard desk, as in the other ang moh in my office...and just find it really funny, he's the one with the long blond hair, but seriousle, he's not like this now cos he's bald, and he's only 28! Try see if you can match him to the tiger beer advert he appear in.

let the count-down to the end of my bitchy time at BDO Raffles begin!

which one for my mum?

ok, while i am still lamenbting about my non-existent love life, i shall splurge all my money on my mum, ok, partly to repay her the 1500 buckeroos she spent on my Reporter...oh, Dad remit more money over for my exchange after weeks of spiiltbrat antics by me. Phew, finally a huge loda off my chest, in case you guys are thinking how spoilt I am, just let me tell you that 75% will be drawn out and given to my mum to deposit into Dad's Giro account to cover for electrical, phone, cable, internet blah blah blah, the list goes on and the remaining for my school fees. only 25% is used to subsidized the you-rope adventure k.

I am not that spoilt to forget entirely about all these expenses.

Meanwhile, plese tell me whoch one you think suits my mum? Oh, and there's a wallet which I am thinking of getting too!

I'm thinking of this since Mum does not have a big LV bag to dump all her barang barang but thing is that she hates duo strapped bag and this design is available at the local outlet, like not special leh

This is my favourite simply because it looks so cool! I don't think the local outlet sells this design yet, and the fact that it's designed by Marc Jacobs puts it way more fashio-savy than the others. But a tad too ex leh at nearly 500 pounds, and the duo-strap, plus it may be a tad too trendy for Mum.

This is nice but is it too small of a bag? Plus, Mum owns a small Mini Loop so this may be redundent. But it is the cheapest (bigger versions of bags within this design family cost too much liao lah!), and it's single strap. Available at the local outlet too

This is the wallet I'm thinking of replacing my aging one with. I have always been looking for one that has external coin compartment. Is it too faminine? But thet placed it under Men and Women leh. Surprisingly, my Reporter is under Women; roll eyes.
Adeline wants this too! admit it's really nice though.

Tired hearts

Oh.my.god. it has happened, no! Not the fact that StageIT’s production the sword has two edges is finally closing…but rather, my cousin and her son are in my house this weekend and the long awaited eruption has happened. In fact, as I am typing this it is still going on, ‘live’. I am such a sadist.

Anyway, the whole hoo-ha is very very lengthy and I have also stepped in with some ‘comment’ a few times, not adding oil to fire, but rather, provide some insights as a 23 yr old whom have been through the rebel stage before.

I think my cousin is starting to crumble. She was constantly saying how a mum will scrimp and save so just the kid will be able to afford a McDonalds meal while the parent will eat at home, how a mother will wear her old clothes so just the kid can afford something nice. And she’s getting tired. It looks so much the scene from Desperate Housewives where Bree gave up on her son Andrew by driving him to the street and leaving him all alone there and drove off. Reel life imitating real life, or is it the other way round?

Apparently, nephew borrowed money from school mates and abscond to KL to work (which I’ve heard is to pay back for the money he owed) and while poor mother is sad and crying at home, youngsters came to her house at demanded payment. From what she said, the 13, 14 yr olds are so loud and kick up such big fuss that now, all the neighbors know what happen and, in a typical Asian drama mood, neighbors despise family. Something along that line.

How can he really enjoy working in KL as an illegal VCD seller? i mean, hello? since 1 pm today, he ate like tons of stuffs. and he's always have a huge appetite; working at that stage will never be able to feed him. retarded boy.

The highlight is when my cousin kept saying she has enough of him and that if son does something like that again, she will just let him go and give up.
